Episode 4: my mom's sweater vest

There have been so many sweater vests in my mom’s closet from her youth but I didn’t start wearing them until I started seeing them all over clothing sites recently. I shouldn’t have followed trends and should have just worn them for the last few years (they’re so cute!!). Another lesson that I shouldn’t simply wear things I’ve seen on others but be adventurous in my clothing choices and wear the things I find to be pretty and fit my body well.

Outfit details: mom's vest, Uniqlo pants, Tretorn sneakers

That brings me to one of the most important lessons I’ve learned in clothing: clothes should fit the person. The person should not fit the clothes. In other words, if I don’t like the way that skinny jeans fit on my body, I shouldn’t keep wearing skinny jeans and wish that my body was different. Instead, I could rock a pair of mom jeans and be happy about the way my body looks in them. I wish I had learned this lesson earlier, because this attitude completely revolutionized my attitude towards my body and clothes.

Additional outfit details: Madewell cardigan
